Hey, Chick - Have A Happy Day!

Hello and welcome. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Today's card features the cute stamp set called 'Hey, Chick' from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.

I have used quite a few new sets from the new Occasions catalogue for this card along with the other project.

The set is FREE with a purchase over $90 during Sale-A-Bration and is so adorable.

The chickens have been grouped together by masking and building up the image. I have later cut this panel out and layered on top. The top part of the chickens have been fussy cut out to create the scene with the grass behind.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor pencils have been used to colour in the chickens and grass.

The die cut grass behind the chickens is from 'Basket Builder dies' part of the Basket Bunch bundle and have also used the grass image on the next project. The Basket Bundle is a great set to use with the chickens for the little chicks and eggs. I have sponged part of the grass in Olive Green for a soft colour shading.

The panel underneath this has been embossed using the Falling Petals embossing folder and adds that subtle interest.

The base card is Olive Green to coordinate with the grass and have also used Olive Green baker's twine to coordinate as well.

The sentiment has been die cut using both the stitched shapes framelits and layering circles dies.

Here is the other project that I have made using the similar layout of the Hey, Chick set and made a desk calendar with a post it note holder.

I have CASED this idea from Judy May's project on Pinterest. Click here to see the original pin on Pinterest.  I love this design by Judy May with the post it note holder.

I have basically turned the top folding card into a stand by adding an extra folded piece inside. The pocket has been custom made to fit the Post It note and have used Pool Party cardstock and a panel of Basic Grey to mount the small calendar.

I love how the chickens work with this layout, one is looking up at the sentiment and the other down at the calendar. It's so cute and pleasing to look at on your desk hehe.

I hope you have enjoyed both projects and found inspiration. I would love to hear your thoughts. The Hey, Chick is a great set and so much fun to colour in. If you purchase the Basket Bunch bundle with the watercolor pencils for example, you will be able to earn this set free. With every $90 you can get a FREE Sale-A-Bration item of your choice. 13. The coloring on the chickens is AMAZING. You've got great talent! I would like to get better in watercoloring too and was wondering if you used watercolor paper or regular and used a blender pen or AquaPainter to achieve the bright yet smooth coloring? I am still in awe!
