Sending Butterfly Wishes: Global Design Project - Case the designer challenge.

Hello there! I thought I would sneak in another card for the Global Design Project #GDP024, as I think this one conforms better with the Case Designer Challenge in terms of the layout.
Here is Michelle Last's card again.

I also wanted another excuse to show another way you can use the brilliant Butterfly Basics bundle. For this card I used the Time Elegance designer series paper and silver heat embossed the floral images from Butterfly basics stamp to add some interest.

The window/shaker part of  the card features the butterfly lace image and used the coordinating die to make the window. I stamped it using Pool Party for that pop of colour. I used several thick coaster boards as frames, all aligned to build the height needed to make the shaker card window that will house the sequins. Just to create interest, I used rhinestones inside the shaker card window so it stays put rather than all the sequins falling down. Once it was all contained I sealed it with the window sheet/acetate and placed the top panel to complete the window.

The sentiments "Sending Wishes Your Way", is also from the Butterfly Basics stamp set. It's just gorgeous! I tied silver baker's twine bow around the window shaker to coordinate with the color scheme. I kept the same color combination inside the card using the flora images and the smaller butterfly which is also in the set. I hope this card has inspired you or to create something similar.
I have listed the stamp set below and if you purchase it as a bundle you save even more. If you're interested in the products or for any more information about my card please send me a message. Butterfly Suite Sayings - GDP Case the Designer Challenge. #GDP024

Hello and welcome back! As always I'm so excited to enter this week's Global Design Project #24 - CASE the designer challenge Michelle Last. CASEing means - Copy and Selectively Edit.
We can choose to take anything from Michelle's gorgeous card above and make it our own.

Here is my card that has been inspired by Michelle's butterfly window shaker card. I'm so glad that her card features a butterfly - just love them!  I have just recently made another card with a butterfly and I have fallen in love with the Butterfly Basics stamp set and dies - so perfect!

For my card I took the butterfly image and have incorporated the sentiment to be part of the window. As you may already know, I can't get enough of watercoloring and here it is... with white heat embossing using the lovely images from Butterfly Basics stamp set. I just love the ink resist technique! The watercoloring is achieved by using Stampin' Up! ink refills to get the intense color pigmentation. I literally dropped the ink colors over the image after wetting the watercolor paper. and it creates this gorgeous clouds of color. I splashed some droplets of water and white ink to create more interest and textures. I also carried the artwork on the inside of the card too, just to complete the look.

Below are the pics of how I went about creating the card. I have used  the medium sized butterfly die from the Butterfly Basic bundle and used the negative cut out space to create the window. The cut out made this gorgeous butterfly complete with unique markings - just love it! I'll use it for another project for sure!

The sentiment "Thanks for being you" is from Suite Sayings stamp set, from the Occasions Catalogue. Just love the font combinations in this sentiment. I have stamped the sentiment on clear acetate using white Stayzon Ink and is perfect for this project. I then adhered this on the back of my panel and used thick dimensional foam to create the window recess to house the silver sequins.

It's been so much fun and learning something new with creating this shaker card. It is worth doing and will continue to make more in the future. If you have been inspired by my card please send me a message. The supplies are available from my store and will list the items below.  Purchasing the Butterfly Basics as a bundle is value for money, a saving of 15%.

Butterfly Basics - Transformation

Hello and welcome back! Here is my card for the Crazy Crafter's Team Project Highlight. It's that time of the week again where we submit a card creation using a current product.  My card is taken from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and matching butterfly dies. I can't help but be addicted to watercolours as it has this beautiful softness and creates these gorgeous layers of colour.

What better way to show this effect than with this butterfly and flower card. I especially love the sentiment: "There is nothing in the caterpillar that tells you it is going to be a butterfly". This is almost true with the transformative qualities of watercolouring, you just never know how the colours will emerge but the end result are amazing.

I have used watercolour paper and white heat embossed the images and applied the watercolours. To get the colours moving it's best to add lots of water and you get this beautiful organic effect with the colours pooling and merging together. Once it dries it leaves these wonderful impressions. You can also speed up the drying process by using the heat gun tool. I have heat embossed the sentiment in gold to make it pop. I also watercoloured in the butterfly and funny enough I have used the reverse side as it had these cool effects and looked more natural than just coloured in and also blended better to the soft layering.

This is the inside of the card carrying over the same theme as the front. I hope you enjoyed this card and may have inspired you to try out watercolours. It truly creates a magical effect each time.

This stamp set is available in the current Annual catalogue as both Photopolymer and Wood mount. By purchasing this set as bundle you save 15% which is a great saving.
