Layering Love - Enjoy the little things... #GDP061 Colour Challenge

Hello and welcome. I'm so honoured to take part as a guest designer in this week's Global Design Project #GDP061 colour challenge. What a challenging colour combination it is too. I struggled a bit and ended up creating two cards to show a variations using this colour combination.

These cards were intended to be used as my swaps with the Crazy Crafters for the Onstage Live Brisbane event, but unfortunately didn't have enough time to make them. However, I will be sending out another card set using a new product suite that I had the privilege of working on as a display stamper for the event to make up for it.

Here are the cards...

Both cards are a collage and my favourite one is the one on the right, as it has a stronger modern mixed media design effect.

I have used several stamp sets for this card: Whereever You Go, Work of Art, Diagonal Stripes and Layering Love. They are all from the annual catalogue and work so well together.

I particularly love the pairing of these stamps as it not only allowed me to use the colours expressively but to also coincide with the travelling to Brisbane for Onstage Live.

The sentiment is a personal favourite, as we have to remind ourselves to always 'enjoy the little things...' I have used the Sweet & Sassy framelits that coordinates with the sentiment and have die cut and mounted this on fun foam to give an even raise. An alternative, is to die cut the heart on basic black card stock several times and stacked them on top of each other.

The second card on the left uses the Awesomely Artistic set in place of Wherever You Go. It has a similar layout however it is slightly different. It was quite experimental and this was the first card I worked on and lead me to the second card. Experimenting and playing with your stamp sets can open up new ideas.

In hindsight this layout would have looked stronger if I had stamped the floral images in black and added the brush strokes from Work or Art to give it that painterly expressive look like in the second card.

I hope you have enjoyed these cards and found inspiration. There are so many wonderful stamps in the annual catalogue and these are just some of them. By pairing them up adds so much diversity and creativity to your cards.

If you would like to give the colour challenge a try make sure to visit the Global Design Project. You also get a chance to become the next Guest Designer if you win the challenge. Good Luck and Enjoy!

I have also entered this card in the Crazy Crafters Team Project Highlights. Please check out the many fabulous creations to get inspired by and remember to vote for you top three favourites and hope you like my one hehe. Cheers. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope to see you next time! Happy Crafting! :)

  2. Hi Juana, I adore how the collage effect of these cards is reminding the recipient of the little things in life. What ever that may be for them, home garden, travel, nature. As always you are on trend with your design, having the main focal raised and the background blending subtly around. Those colours do work well together. Makes me wish I was well enough to design and also get my markets done as I normally do lol. There is always next week xx

  3. Jauna I am glad you didn't use the "painterly" look again on the Awesomely Artistic card. I really love how the die cut heart almost (almost!) fades in to the background. Both cards use the colour challenge beautifully. I am so glad we finally got to meet at Onstage in Brisbane! I am your number one fan!

  6. Awesome cards Juan. I really love the diagonal stripes on the edges of your cards. Also love how the flowers carry across onto the punched heart.
