Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Julie Davison

Hola! Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with a very special guest the talented Julie Davison. We have the great honour of CASE-ing her fabulous work. To CASE is to Copy and Selectively Edit - that is, taking any inspiration from her card/projects and making it something of your own.

There were two cards in particular that I was drawn too and they are the Bendy card and the Pee-ka-boo flip card. They are both such a unique and interesting fold and a great way to display the images.

Julie has a video tutorial on how to make these wonderful cards on her blog, so be sure to check them out and they're so much fun to make!

I decided to go with the Peek-a-boo flip Card and use the Birthday Fiesta stamp set as inspired by Julie's bendy card. It's also a great opportunity to finally get to use this set and just love the cute Llama.

The Birthday Fiesta comes in a bundle with coordinating Fiesta Time Framelits as well as coordinating Festive Birthday designer series paper. The whole set works so well together and gives such a fun and vibrant Mexican fiesta feel.

This is a must have and you can make the most of the current DSP special and stock up:

141630 - Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper
142268 - Birthday Fiesta Photopolymer Bundle

I have adjusted my card size to be 10.5cm (h) x 15cm (w) and followed Julie's measurements inside to create the peekaboo flip mechanism.

The window/peekaboo is larger so as to accommodate for the larger sentiment, "Wishing You The Happiest of Birthdays". I have used the layering circles framelits to die cut this.

The front and back card panel is Tempting Turqouise and inside is Whisper White.

The card front uses a combination of patterns from the Festive Birthday dsp and just love the bold bright colours. I have cut strips of differing sizes of patterns to create this panel layer. I particularly love the multi-coloured striped pattern used inside the circle window. \

I have lined the sentiment to best advantage so it lines up within the coloured bands and have white heat embossed it. I have also white heat embossed the cluster of flowers underneath.

The flag/banner has been die cut using with Fiesta Time framelits and have used Festive Birthday dsp and the individual patterns inside are white heat embossed. An additional colour coordination  rose die cut in Melon Mambo ink has been mounted on top with dimensionals.

The llama has been lightly watercoloured in with an aqua painter using Sahara Sand. The textile pattern has been stamped in Tempting Turquoise.

I had a fiesta of a time decorating the inside of the card hehe. The peekaboo flip card element just made the image placement more dynamic.

The Festive Birthday dsp really brings this set to life and have utilisted it on the peekaboo flip card feature, background for the sentiment as well as the streamers with that subtle monochromatic pattern.

The Llama, cactus and flowers have all been die cut with the coordinating framelits.

Inks used are: Emerald Envy for the cactus, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise for the flowers. Llama - Sahara Sand and Pumpkin Pie for the textile.

All the die cut images have been popped up with dimensionals.

Here is a top view of the card.

This was such a fun card to make and thanks to Julie for this wonderful card tutorial and CASE inspiration.

TIP: Arrange all your elements first and use a temporary adhesive or something low tack that you can easily peel off. Once you're happy with the layout and placement then adhere permanently. I found the tear and tape works best for adhering the DSP and card stock as it gives a clean and smooth finish.

Make sure you continue to hop all the way around and see all the amazing inspiration from the Crazy Crafters team. You are going to love what our team have come up with using Julie's cards. Currently you are at my blog - Juana Ambida - so check the list to see who is up next. Enjoy!
