Pretty Kitty - "You've got a friend in me".

Hello and welcome back! I'm on a card making roll this week after receiving my order. The card for today is from Pretty Kitty and I just couldn't wait to have a play with this cute set, as I just love cats hehe. The card also uses two other sets, 'Bella and Friends' for the greeting inside and 'Sunshine Sayings' for the watercolour brush stroke background.

This card has been inspired by Global Design Project #39 - Get Well Soon theme, and have decided to enter again, third entry now - hope they wont mind hehe, as I've been so inspired to create. It's also part of Petra Tailor's wonderful idea to make and send a handmade card to cheer someone you know and show love and support during this month and July. Please click here to see Petra's blog for this wonderful cause - "Let's support those with depression. From me to you, when you're feeling blue".

This is a cute and simple card design and focusing mainly on the lovely cat character.

The cat has been coloured using an aqua painter and Stampin' Up! inks. I just love using aqua painters as it gives a soft blending of the colour and gives a nice soft finish. Less is more when using aqua painters on normal whisper white card stock. As it's only a small image, it doesn't require much water, it just needs to be shaded in and outlined. I have stamped the cat in black Stazon on ink and I have used Smoky Slate for the cat and Blushing Bride for the ears and cheeks giving it a flustered look. For the ball of string, I have used Flirty Flamingo. I have then fussy cut the cat out and mounted it on with Stampin' dimensionals. The watercolour background is from Sunshine Sayings and has been stamped with Soft Sky. It has been stamped twice to build the desired background.

The panel is Flirty Flamingo cardstock and I have die cut this using the Project Life cards and framelits dies, it has a nice shape and perfectly compliments both the sentiment and cat. The sentiment has been white heat embossed. I have looped around silver metallic thread several times on the back of the cat to mimic the tangled mess of string on the cat and emphasises the sentiment, it's also a fun way to incorporate the thread. I have then added a few clear sequins just for some soft accents and to catch the light. The stitched panel is created by using the stitched rectangle layer dies from Memory Box - just love the look of the faux stitched border and gives that needed interest around the border. I have popped this panel up with fun foam to add a layer in dimension.

I have done the same layout on the inside of the card and have used the other cat characters from the Pretty Kitty set to show friendship. The sentiment "You've got a friend in me", is from Bella & Friends set and they are perfect together as they use the same fonts.  The same colour and techniques have been incorporated to the cats and the other colour, with the exception of Sahara Sand for the other cat. The placement of the cats and sentiment works and will hopefully cheer up the card recipient to show support.

I hope you have enjoyed my card and have been inspired. It's a playful set and cannot wait to make more wonderful cards with this set. Nothing says it better than a handmade card with love to cheer up someone you know is going through some tough times. For more inspirations, please head on over to the Global Design Project and see all the wonderful creative project on the gallery and hopefully you will take part and create something with the theme challenge. :)
