Remarkable Nature - Watercolour... I can't believe the joy it brings me...

(My mock up layout - using Photoshop)

Hello friends, here is a card  I made for the Global Design Project. This week it's a Nature theme - oh what fun! I just love flowers and butterflies and the "Remarkable You" stamp set was the vision of love for nature.  What was even better I purchased this stamp at a discounted price during the weekly deals Stampin' Up has. Nature is so remarkable that I wanted to make a tribute and gratitude to it's immense beauty in it's rich colours and beautiful designs. As you can see I have used my all time favourite colouring media of watercolour with white heat embossing.

I have saturated it with so much ink as I wanted a flurry of colours almost like a rainbow. It was done in stages by applying each ink colour first and drying it with a heat tool. You can see where the water has dried leaving the dark edges where the colour has pooled. By doing it this way it gives you greater control with watercolouring, otherwise it would end up looking muddy in some areas if blended whilst wet. I just went with the flow and kept this rather loose and freestyle and reflecting the style of the floral illustrations of the Remarkable You stamp set.

The card needed a butterfly hehe. The butterfly has been die cut using both the Bold Butterfly framelit dies, that is the one in vellum underneath and the intricate one on top is from Butterflies thinlits dies. I have emulated it to look like the rest of the images with the white outlines and looking quite dynamic by adding vellum underneath for a more 3D look.
I have  trimmed off a bit off both sides of the panel to have that nice white edge showing as a vertical border. White space is good hehe. :)

As a contrast to the bright colours on the front, I have made the inside of the card more subtle and muted. I guess the Peace Lily flower had a lot to do with it hehe. This is the other flower in the stamp set and being a white flower I have rendered the background instead in a soft muted tones.  I have die cut another vellum butterfly using the Bold Butterfly framelit die and white heat embossed the sentiment. The butterfly has been adhered using a small metal brad, it's such a great way to attach vellum especially for this butterfly. The sentiment is so lovely as a gratitude for the little things. This card would also be great to give as a Thank you gift for someone special in your life.

I hope you have found some inspirations in my card. Watercolouring is such a fun medium and works so well with this stamp set. This stamp is available on my online store and be sure take advantage of the weekly deals as you never know what great stamp set you'll come across that is heavily discounted.  For more inspirations with the nature theme, please check out all the great projects over at the Global Design Project. It would be great if you could join too and share your creativity.

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope to see you again soon. Cheers! :)
