Tropical Botanicals - Global Design Project #GDP022 - Sketch Challenge

I just love the botanical gardens suite and thought it would be the perfect centerpiece in this week's Global Design Project #GDP022 - Sketch Challenge. I have played with various layouts to incorporate that beautiful tropical flower in the composition and in keeping with the sketch challenge. The flower was the main focal point and influenced the overall design of my card with the many layers of colour and texture reflecting the flower blossom, petals and leaves - lots of details and a feast for the eyes, giving you a glimpse of a tropical summer paradise.

To add more richness to the tropical flower and foliage, I have incorporated "By the Tide" stamp set to compliment that imagery, for example the beautiful conch shell and the coral which acts as branches within the floral arrangement. To further accompany the tropical look and feel, I have used the burlap ribbon and frayed the edges and this became the band on the card. I have also used the new bakers twine black and mint macaron over the top for a splash of colour.  The lots of labels framelits became the frame and within the frame I made a collage of images from both stamp sets.

To add the touch of lush tropical elegance I have gold heat embossed both the sentiment and conch shell and added pearls for embellishments in the flowers. The sentiment "a happy hello" perfectly compliments the overall theme I was going for and this stamp set is from Tin of cards and placed on vellum so that you can still see through underneath. This is a top folding card to give it that unique one of kind handmade with love card and the floral motif continues inside.

This was such a fun challenge, the sketch greatly inspired my layout and also looking closely at the stamps and exploring ways to use them in a creative, personal yet meaningful way. I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it. I have listed the items that I have used to create this card below. If you have been inspired by my card why not join in the fun at  the Global Design Project and share what you love with world. Here's their website: www.global-design-project.com.
