1st April 2017 - A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge #04

Hello and welcome. I'm so excited to announce that I have recently been accepted to be part of a Design Team for A Perfect time to Craft - yay! It is such an honour to have been chosen and it's a new and exciting area using digital images. Today is officially my first day to share my creation with you and the design team for this month's "A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge #4".

It's a fun challenge and you can enter up to three projects and the theme is always 'Anything Goes'.
I would love for you to enter. The challenge is open from 1st April - 27th April 2017, so plenty of time to get creative.

Each month we will have a different sponsor.
Our wonderful sponsor for April is stamps by Erica Burton - Ericraft.

Erica has some lovely and fun images that are great to colour in. I have chosen to use "I'm Late", depicting the March Hare character from Alice in Wonderland. I love this image and so much fun to colour in. It was such a great way to practice colouring with copics, and the more I use it the more I'm loving it. I have also added in Prismacolor pencils for some accent colouring.

Here's the initial colouring with Copics and Prismacolour Pencils...

I decided to extend the hare's coat to enclose and define the whole section background to colour in. I then hand cut it out mostly around the white uncoloured areas and mounted it on black cardstock using fun foam to give an even raise. Mounting it on a black panel was a great way to unify the whole black background and adding textures to create an effect of time rushing by, reinforcing the hare's plight of being late or rushing off somewhere.

I have used a couple of sets by Stampin' Up! and they are:
Gorgeous Grunge: The splatters, streaks and diagonal stripes for texture.
Vertical Greeting: Just Because sentiment.

They all have been white heat embossed and helps to enhance the scene and layout.

The background colour behind the sentiment has been rendered with ink blending using Night of Navy ink to add some interest rather than just all black. I initially stamped a script background stamp and have later blended that in with the Night of Navy ink, adding more subtle layers and textures.

The front panel was then mounted onto an A2 side folding black card.

Using the Metallic Gold PrismacolorpPencil just helps make the metal images look more realistic.
To make the images pop even more, I have added clear glossy accents to the the metallic objects including the clock hands, cogs, keys and chain heart pendant. A few random silver sequins has been added for extra shine and also used a white gel pen on the hare's coat and on the blue banner.
