Something for Baby - Fun fold side step card

Hello and welcome back! Today's card is a new card fold that I have been wanting to try out for some time and came through inspiration after seeing the new challenge at Global Design Project #52 - Case the Designer Challenge - the super talented Teneale Williams.

Here is the banner. It's another fun challenge and be sure to check out all the creative projects by the talented design team. Hopefully, you'll join in the fun too. :)

The side step card fold was just something different and takes the layout to another creative level. It gave me the opportunity to have the die cut images pop up on the tiered steps.

I have used the same theme as Teneale's super cute baby card and have used the Something for Baby set with the coordinating Baby's First Framelits.
In addition, I have used the Better Together set to complete the card with a fabulous sentiment. 'Congratulations on your new arrival - love the font combination.

I have chosen to create a baby boy card as I couldn't resist using the cute little polka dot tie from the Something For Baby set that has been added on the baby shirt. The colour palette is derived from  A Little Foxy Friends designer series paper stack. This can be seen in the die cut baby striped shirt and chevron pattern on the side steps. Main colours are, Pool Party, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray. Daffodil Delight was used for the duck and flowers and Real Red for the mini hearts.

The base card is Smoky Slate. I have white heat embossed the cute safety pins with hearts as well as the sentiment and these are from the Better Together set.

All the other baby images are from Something for Baby. The pram has been stamped twice to get the colour separation and have fussy cut the top of the pram in Pool Party and have mounted that on top with Stampin' dimensionals.

I have also stamped the toy with the rings twice as well and fussy cut the necessary bands to create the alternating colours of Pool Party and Smoky Slate.

The little bow on the pram is the Crush Curry Baker's twine and just adds the extra colour coordinated cuteness hehe. The other embellishments used are, White perfect accents on the flowers and the tiny Jewel Basic Rhinestone on the pram and Basic Pearls for the duck's eye.

To stop the card from eventually sliding flat, I have braced it inside with a strip of cardstock that folds flat and opens up to a certain point and helps hold the card to stay in position.

I decided to also decorate the back by adding a panel of Whisper White cardstock cut according to size. It's kept relatively simple to give a space to write a personal message.  I have stamped the safety pins and sentiment from Better Together in Smoky Slate and have die cut the baby shirt to show the negative space. The little hearts have been stamped in Real Red as a decorative feature as well as compliment the sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed this card project inspiration. The card fits in a C6 envelope as long you keep within the side panels it should fit. If you would like to try, here is the measurements in centimeters. You can modify the measurements accordingly to suit but this is the basic template to create it. Hope you have fun making it. The supplies are listed below and are available on my online store.

I have also entered this card in the Crazy Crafters Team Project Highlights. Please check out all the creative projects by the Crazy Crafters and remember to vote for your top three favourites by clicking on the heart located on the right hand corner of the photo. Voting opens at 6.30 pm AEST, 9th September. Enjoy! :)

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope to see you next time. Happy Crafting! :)

    1. Thank you so much Kim, I great appreciate your lovely compliments. I tried the patterned papers but just got too busy so keeping it simple worked out to be the best option. It could also be a place to write or be a photo frame. :) x
