Places You'll Go with Swirly Bird sets

Hello and welcome back. Today's card has been inspired by the Global Design Project #53 Colour Challenge. The colours are Night of Navy, Watermelon Wonder and Gold. It's a sophisticated colour combination and was pressed on what to create and upon looking at it closer it reminded me of nautical colours. Here's the banner for this week's Colour Challenge for #GDP053. Make sure to have a look at all the design team's creative cards and hopefully you'll be inspired to join in the fun. It's a special challenge too and if your card is selected you become the guest designer for the next colour challenge.

The Swirly Bird set came to mind to create a nautical theme as it comes complete with the sail both image and the swirly circles that can represent the sun. It comes with waves and swirly thinlits and creates such a fun and dynamic ocean scene. Here is my card...

It's an A2 top folding landscape card using Night of Navy cardstock.
The waves and sun are created using the Swirly Scribbles thinlits dies. Using the whisper white cardstock over the navy gives it such a nice contrast and by adding the ink splatters from the Swirly Bird set blends the two together. Gold foil has been used for the sun as well as gold heat embossing for the centre swirly scribble. I have also gold heat embossed the boat section. The sail boat components has been stamped and cut out separately and mounted using Stampin' dimensionals to give it a raise. The colours for the sails are Watermelon Wonder and the little flag on top is Night of Navy. I have also clear heat embossed over the top of and adds a shine to the sails.

To complete this nautical theme, I have used the wonderful sentiments from Places You'll Go set with, "Adventure Awaits" on the front and 'Oh, the places you will go on the inside' and really compliments the sail boat setting off to a sea voyage. Love the font combination too. :) I have also added the gold baker's twine from the new holiday catalogue on the top and tied a bow on the inside of the card. To give it at the extra pop of Watermelon Wonder, I have used the mini striped ribbon and attached in to the side giving it a handle - almost like a pencil case. I have also rounded off the bottom corners using a corner chomper and matches the waves at the bottom.

The front of the card carries over to the inside and added the ink splatters to best advantage over the white waves and added the little gold heat embossed stars from Places You'll Go along the side the sentment. The white space allows for a place to write the personal message.

I hope you have enjoyed this card and found inspiration. The Swirly Bird bundle is one of my favourite sets as it's so versatile. By using the sentiment's from Places You'll Go, just add another level of creativity to both sets. The supplies are listed below and are available on my online store.

I have also entered this card in this week's Kylie Bertucci's Crazy Crafters Team Projects. Please check out all the creative projects and remember to vote for your favourites. :)
