Crazy Crafters September Blog Hop with Special Guest Paula Dobson

Hello and welcome to the September Crazy Crafters Blog Hop! I'm so excited to be taking part in this hop as we have a very special guest and dear friend - the amazing and super talented Paula Dobson. Her body of work is just stunning and love all her designs. Paula so creative and full of inspiration and cannot wait to meet her at Onstage in Novermber! It's such a privilege and an honour to be Case'ing her work. To CASE is to Copy and Selectively Edit - that is, taking any inspiration from her card/projects and making it something of your own.
The hard part was choosing which one to case as they are all so beautiful and captivating! Make sure to visit her blog and you will be blown away by her stunning cards.

I fell in love with her breathtaking Christmas Aurora card pictured below. It's a masterpiece! - every detail is perfection. Paula is also an amazing colourist and wanted to try this Ink blending technique of creating the Aurora Australis or Southern Lights.

I have used the "Santa's Sleigh" set from the Holiday catalogue to substitute the reindeer used in Paula's card. I also love the panoramic view that Paula has created and have emulated that with the Santa's Sleigh. To add even more interest,  I have made a Twist  Pop card, that gives a panoramic view as the card is opened up. I learnt to make this card through Twist & Pop Card Video by Collette Mitrega. It's an excellent and helpful video tutorial to learn this wonderful card fold. Here's the card...

The colours used to create the Aurora Australis are, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy and Memento Black. I had fun creating this background and it's all in the blending and using a soft touch with minimal ink on the sponge helps the colours to blend easily.

The little stars came from another Christmas set - Holly Jolly Greetings  and the outline star is from Santa's Sleigh. These are both white heat embossed over the background.

The Santa Sleigh with presents and teddy bear have been gold heat embossed and die cut using the coordinating Santa Sleigh framelits.

The black strip panel underneath emulates the shiloutte landscape and have white heat embossed the sentiment from Santa Sleigh, 'Merry Christmas Wishes'.

This is my version of the Aurora Australis using the Santa Sleigh set emulating the Paula's gorgeous card. The trees have been recreated to give the silhouette look which gives it that nature look and completes the scenery.

Here's the how the card looks as it's opened up:

The pop and twist centre panel is the panoramioc view displaying the wonderful Santa Sleigh and Reindeers in procession and behind them is the Aura Australis.

Here's a short video of the card in action. :)

I do hope this card has done Paula proud in Caseing her stunning Chrismas Aurora card. I had so much fun making this card from creating the unique background as well as trying out this new card fold. The Santa Sleigh bundle is just the best - the images and framelits are so fun and easy to use and the framelits are so precise when they are cut out - Love it!

Make sure you continue to hop all the way around and see all the amazing inspiration from the Crazy Crafters team. You are going to love what our team have come up with using Paula's cards. Currently you are at my blog - Juana Ambida - so check the list to see who is up next. Enjoy!
