Tap Tap Tap - Typeset Specialty handmade card

Hello and welcome back! I'm so excited to take part again over at the Global Design Project and this week they're having a sketch challenge designed by the talented Teneale Williams. I was so honoured to have been given special mention with last week's color challenge #GDP029 for my cute cat stripe/shaker card. Here it is again. :)

This week has such a fun and yet challenging sketch. I had so many ideas going through my mind and made it hard to decide hehe.

I thought I'd revisit the Tap Tap Tap stamp set again as you don't see this set being used as much. I just love the typewriter image and wanted that to become the focal point for both the greeting and image as per the sketch. You can really take this stamp set to the next level by adding a montage of layers and giving it a 3D look. The typewriter has a vintage feel and wanted to compliment that theme with similar sets including Gorgeous Grunge and the Typeset Specialty designer series paper. In addition, I have also used the Little Letters thinlits dies to die cut the 'HI' and use the reverse image panel.

This card combines all these elements to give it a vintage, graphic and typographical structure. The grid page from Typeset specialty dsp instantly gives this a paper feel and makes a great base that sets off the typewriter well. I have used all of the images from the Tap Tap Tap set and applied it with a mixed media look you can say with various layering and the good old white embossing on black - just love the contrast. The splatter and ink marks from Gorgeous Grunge just adds to the vintage feel and a cool controlled mess hehe.

To achieve the 3D look to the typewriter, I have cut a slit and inserted a strip of paper to size and folded it, so it opens out and becomes a note page to have a space to write a message or just a fun design element. The note image has also been added for another layer to give it a staggered look. Don't you just love the HI letters popping out on the keyboard? The are taken from the keyboard letters and have fussy cut them out and popped up with Stampin' dimensionals.

I previously had a black panel on the back and played with different ideas and this was the final result. I decided to just have a small strip/panel as my interpretation and by using the reverse die cut panel of the HI makes it look interesting and not as heavy and you can see the wonderful ink marks underneath. It would be a shame to cover it up. The tap tap tap was a remnant of my original idea to have that image across the whole panel but it looked too busy and just used that section and still salvage it in the end. The little banners are made using the banner punch and have used the prints from the Typeset specialty dsp. The 437 banner is an off cut and it's the reverse side of the grid paper - so nothing was wasted - they can all make a special appearance. :)

I have brought the same style though a lot simpler on the inside of the card and used the typewriter again as a cute way to display the 'Thinking of you' sentiment. I hope you found some inspirations in my card. It's a really great set and just by dressing it up you can really make the most of this set. The products I have used are available on my online store just by clicking on the Shop with me tab and remember to use the host code when you place an order to receive a thank you gift from me.
